Born of Love

I used to beat myself thinking of the day that I'd have to explain to my "curious cat" of a child how he came to be. How his mother didn't take the time to settle down and find someone to build a life with before bringing him into this world. How I didn't make him out of love. How we weren't making love. How the action was more of a transaction. I used to beat myself up thinking that he would be missing out on something I tried so hard to give him. Something I tried so hard to cover up by overcompensating. The clothes, the shoes, the toys, the trips. Forcing myself to create memories so that he would see the smiles and "remember the time" but after reading this quote online, I took a moment to stop and think. What exactly am I? Am I not a vessel of love? Am I not enough?

Am I not love?

Every smile, every laugh, every hug is love! Every little heart attack I have when he does something dangerous is indeed out of love. Being born of love isn't just being born into a family or a home. Being born of love is being born to a mother who decided that your life matters. Being born of love is having someone who looks at you like the rest of the world doesn't exist. Being born of love is to be loved. Even if it is just by me. So if one day you stumble upon this before we get to have the conversation Carter, Please know that you are a product of love because I made you. And it doesn't get any better than that!
